La Casa
Casale di Monticello is perched on its surrounding 10 hectare land, dotted with olive trees and featuring a natural garden with a panoramic pool. The house has recently been renovated and its unique elements restored. The ancient, thick walls give great protection to its inhabitants. The villa’s architecture is atypical for the rustic Umbrian farmhouses, rather resembling that of a villa set in the French riviera with pastel colours and airy rooms. No matter the season, the remoteness of its location provides a deep sense of stillness, to be enjoyed by small or large groups of guests.

Ground Floor
The holiday home can be entered via six doors. On the ground floor, an arched doorway accesses the modern kitchen designed by Reform with wooden ceilings. The dining room is directly connected to the terrace under the abundant fig trees for a meal in the shade during the warm summer months outside. Walk up the open spaced staircase onto the first floor. The entire house is floored with old terracotta tiles, except for the living room on the ground floor. The doorway to the garden gives beautiful views across the landscape and features a flatscreen TV. Likewise, the next door Camera del Giardino has its own access to the green spaces and is a tranquil, airy bedroom with en-suite bathroom.

First floor
As you arrive at the house, few steps lead you to the entrance below the old Madonna monument to the living room on the first floor. The room is characterised by its wooden, Umbrian ceilings, fireplace, chaise longue and antique furniture, giving the room an air of coziness, particularly in autumn and winter. The first floor’s master bedroom overlooks the tips of the fig trees and glimmering lights of Umbria’s small towns at nighttime, hence the name Camera dei Fichi. Take a seat at the small table in the nook next to the archway to the balcony to write, work or read a magazine.
Second Floor
The second floor can be accessed through a hallway and wooden staircase via a door from the garden or the first floor. The top floor features a large bedroom with ensuite bathroom and facing the East, naturally flooding the room with sunlight when you wake up. A fireplace can be lit up to make the space even greater an experience. Also, it features its own staircase up to the secret roof top. The highlight of Casale di Monticello is the suite on the top floor with endless scenic views across Umbria like looking out of an airplane. The suite’s linen sofa can be pulled out as a double bed so that an additional two people can enjoy the space. Prepare yourself a coffee or tea in the cucinetta with expansive views out of the windows.
